Mary Freeman Crabbe diaries, 1890-1895.

Diaries kept by Mary Freeman at the age of 15 and 16, 1890-1891, and as a college student at Stanford University, 1894-1895. The earlier volumes were written in Woodland, California, and record her daily life including school, social life, family matters, attending church, and a summer in Nevada (1891). These volumes also include various lists: parties attended, books read, and "miscellaneous" social events. Subjects from the Stanford volumes include dormitory life, her study habits, excursions to Palo Alto, eating and food parties in the dorm, social relations with male students, and lectures attended. Lecturers include David Starr Jordan, Benjamin Harrison, Harriet Hosmer, Helen Campbell, Walter Camp, and Susan B. Anthony. The journals for the summers of 1894 and 1895 were partially written during her stay at a ranch in Nevada.
